The Water is Wide The Water is Wide by Pat Conroy

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I loved this book! It was the first book I read of Conroy's & I can't wait to get my hands on another one (along with the movie that is based on this book). I thought it was well written & very entertaining! It was both funny & sad. I found myself laughing one minute & heart broken the next. Being based on Conroy's true life it was a very interesting look into the Carolina Low Country in the late 60's & early 70's. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys books giving insight to history, teaching or southern settings.

He is quickly becoming one of my favorites! I now have acquired The Lords of Discipline & The Prince of Tides which are needless to say on my to read list. I can't wait to get started on one of them! But which one to read first!? ; )

Pat Conroy is one of my favorite authors and this book is very good. You won't be disappointed reading any of his other books - especially Beach Music. The Low-Country of South Carolina (generally coastline area from Charleston to Hilton Head) is a very magical and intriguing place and Pat Conroy captures that in all of his books. It definitely envelops your soul!
