Now you can have your blog published on Amazon's KINDLE listings!

I found this cool promo idea, thanks to Rare Victorian's blog post.

I immediately went to Amazon's KINDLE PUBLISHING FOR BLOGS (beta), and signed up both of my blogs. They're waiting approval, so keep your fingers crossed.

See my Amazon Kindle Blog listing for Ms Dow Antiques Blog here.

Here's the cool part -- you get another way to promote your blog for free. Nice!

But here's the way-cool part -- Amazon sells subscriptions to the blogs -- you might actually get paid! Now, granted, your cut is only about 60c a subscription, and, well, I don't really expect to get any sales -- but it's a fun idea.

Primarily, it gives my blogs a little more exposure, more links, more SEO. I hope that readers will see my listing there, and think, hey, I'll just go check it out for free. Of course, Amazon is pretty savvy, and maybe they know something I don't about what their customers want. I hope so.

Another great idea I just read in Scott Fox's new book, e-Riches 2.0 -- is a way to get your name and website "out there", is to write reviews for Amazon products. Now, why didn't I think of that?!!! Even though Amazon doesn't sell antiques, they do sell books about antiques, collectibles, and whatever other topic you like.

OK - those ideas should keep us all busy for a while.

Go publish & sell your blog on Amazon's new KINDLE for Blogs listings - NOW!

Vince -- loved the article - thanks. Chuckled at the Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy joke in the comic strip. And I really got a laugh from number 7 in the not-to-buy Kindle list:

"... 7. Flight attendants will tell you to turn it off on take off and landing. You can’t explain that it’s epaper and uses no current. You just can’t. It’s like explaining heaven to bears. ..."

I don't know the cost particulars, but I guess that internet connectivity is free, once you buy the expensive device, and then you pay for your downloads. But you can't just surf the net as with a regular computer.

From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amazon_Kindle
"... download content over Amazon Whispernet using the Sprint EVDO network. Kindle hardware devices can be used without a computer, and Whispernet is accessible without any fee. These devices also provide free internet access to Wikipedia. -- Kindle also contains several free experimental features, including a basic Web browser [ hmmm...] ..."

Well, I never thought I'd use twitter, so who knows, maybe a Kindle for Christmas?

Yes, it's all about the exposure.

I'm a book person, so I doubt I'd be a Kindler (not to mention I am too cheap - er, frugal). When the power goes out here, I still read my books by candlelight. But I can see the Kindle as handy for certain situations like travel, or certain types of businesses.

When you sign up to list your blog with Amazon, you give them your feed url, and they do the rest.

I wonder how long till my thumbnail pic shows up -- they also had me upload a screen shot pic too, and there should be a preview pane. I'm sure they've had lots of sign-ups, so they are backed up.

I don't think they will have direct links, which is why I added my website to my name, as I do here.

There will always be book collectors, and they'll need bookcases, so no worries there.
