Mistakes in Trying to have a New Business Online.
Things I have Found that does not help you in Business.
Do not pay Big money for a Web site with all the bells and whistles, Things just jump around everywhere. You do not no how to use it or just do not use it. We can get carried away sometimes
with all the new gadgets and over do our Web site with so many distractions people have no idea what you are selling. Simple is usually the Best
Think just because you got a Web site up and Running your are done. Lots more work yet ! Check out other sellers that sale the same things you do. What does there site look like , What are their Prices.
How is your check out ,try it your self. Any problems ? Links do they work ?
Ok ! You got Google all your items are listed ! So ? Only if people search for your item can they find it . Search your items how many pages did it take you to find it?
You sit and wait for a year wondering where everyone is ? Wake Up ! They do not know where you are at ! Blog it, Twitter it, Face Book it. Talk about it everywhere.
You advertise in all the wrong Places. You sale Gourmet Foods you put add in Pet Friendly?That might would work if the Dog likes Gourmet Food.
All of your selling connections, sales the same thing you do ! You are aiding your competition. Try to find connection that compliment yours if you sale clothes find someone who sales shoes,handbags.
You advertise for people and they will return the favor ! Not ! Make sure you know they will add a link for you also. Unless you are just helping someone get started that does not have their own site.
Maybe use the Buddy system. If you are using Face Book or Twitter or even Blogs You mention them or one of there items they have for sale and they do the same for you.
Word of Mouth is not always a great thing if over done, done, done. Repetition every 3 sec. is a little too much. But not enough and people will forget you exist.
Sale This and make a million dollars this year ! No Turnip trucks to fall off here beware if it sounds to good ,it is !
Oz never gave nothing to the Tin Man and the likely hood of getting a bunch of stuff free without stings ! Zero. Look for Tried and True is the best bet. You, Get what you pay for.
Oh the Google you listed your stuff at by the time to get here in reading, its already old. so you need to change ,move or add something so the Bots and Spiders will learn to check you daily.Usually every 28 to 30 Days the Items you listed at Google will run out and you have to relist those too!.
People really believe in what they say to be true, But it may not be True for you,It may not be what you need. So do not Fall for the latest Hype. Can you Market it ? Does it have Value. So what if Joe Smith can throw corn faster than you due to him using a spring loaded corn holder.
Read the fine print on anything that ask you (do you except). Or you might start getting weird charges on your Credit card. Recheck your statements every month.
You think its going to be easy because you can now sale online ! Not ! Nose to the Grind Stone Refresh,List,Advertise,Photos, who is doing what where ? Can I do that ? Sales, Shipping This is not a walk in the Park !
You choose wild colors that scare the life out of anybody who comes to your site. Blood Bath Jason revisited. Blues, Muted Greens, Neutrals, Are Good Red,Bright Yellow,Lime Greens,Bright Pink do not use them unless you are selling Mod 1960 Products.
You add a Blog to your Web site this can be good or bad, what if someone leaves something that is not nice on your blog for the world to see.You can put a safety on it on ly approved items permitted.
It can also be good if you Blog daily, because it will give Bots something to pick up on.
You check your shops only once a week for sales or Questions. Customer has moved on by then. Your shiping out and order is delayed.
You need to check your Site only Daily Basis. So Find the Time !
Merchandise sits there until it has cob Webs. You even get tired of seeing it.You need to refresh the look, move Inventory around. Move pages from Back to front.
Just One Person View! Because I certainly not a expert nor try to be. Lol

You gave some good tips here !
It is amazing the folks who think they can start a store and the customers will come running - LOL
It takes lots of work and a good year or so to get established.
Also, you must have good customer /relationsservice if you want to get referrals.
Research, work, blog, keep your website fresh and then start over again - and again...
