NOTES FROM MS DOW ANTIQUES

I'm Marianne Dow, a long-time antiques dealer. Originally from sunny California, I left "The OC" for the fabulous antiquing in Ohio. I've been collecting and selling back here for 15+ years now, and selling on eBay for 10 years.

On my website/blog, Ms Dow Antiques 'TIQUE TALK, I write about my antiquing adventures, and my thoughts on "the biz". I'm always posting about selling on eBay, new happenings in online selling, attending local farm & estate auctions, collecting postcards, antique bottles & bottle shows, and so much more. I have lots of show-n-tell pix of the wonderful treasures I find.

I am very active with the Findlay Antique Bottle Club, where I am also the website editor/webmaster.

MS DOW ANTIQUES GIFT SHOP is my online-store where you'll find amazing illustrations from my antique postcard collection printed on Lovely Home Decor and Pretty Gift Items. You'll find T-shirts, tote bags, pillows, notecards, framed tiles, trinket boxes, and more.

Zazzle 'em, Baby!

Today Cafepress made a big announcement. A big, fat, STUPID, really-bad-for-business announcement. (Read the announcement here.)

Cafepress is a POD (print-on-demand) company, where entrepreneurs, artists, designers, and anyone who wants to have some custom "stuff" (t-shirts, posters, cards, and more) can upload their designs, and set their own commission rate, and sell the items to all comers, either through setting up custom shops on Cafe… Continue

Thanks for the idea. I'm just getting settled in here, but maybe I'll do that.

I like it a lot. I have only made 2 sales there, but the man who runs it is really, really great, as are the other sellers I've encountered, so far. Listing is really easy, too.

Thanks for the welcome!

I'm commenting you your comment to me that I should post some similar information as I have in my "about me" on Ruby Lane to my A page. Sorry, I'm a dutz, but how? I don't seem to be able to find a way to post anything but a picture to my "me" on A. Thank you in advance. Wonderful site. I'm debating on who I should encourage to join.

Hey, Marianne! Thanks for your comments way back in March. As you can tell, I've been elsewhere. Actually, I got a position at our Chamber of Commerce and I haven't been able to breathe since! smile.
Anyway, thanks for your info on my Bauer Pottery blog article. I guess the mark on the bottom is what made me determine the dating I used. It has a deep engraved 'BAUER' on the bottom of the bowl and I read: "Marks they used included 'Bauer' and 'Bauer Los Angeles' used in the 20s and earlier and "Bauer Made in USA" or "Bauer USA" on works produced in the 1930s." This was from Bauer Pottery History and Information, Schiffer Books, Books for Collectors. But, what you may be saying is that the speckledware was only produced in the 50's and 60's.
I will follow your link and get better educated! Thanks again.
