Benefits of Membership in AVCOSA
- Your own member profile page with:
- Free promotion, pix and links to your website and/or sales
listings
- Your own AVCOSA blog
- Discussions, Comments, and Group forums where you can tap into
a large focused knowledge base, and interact with other online
dealers.
-
Who may Join AVCOSA
- We currently have an "Open Membership" policy (obvious spammers
will be deleted).
- AVCOSA currently does not charge membership dues, nor does it
have any revenue stream.
- You should be a seller of antiques, vintage items, or
collectibles ONLINE, either through your own website, or on a
group/shop site (examples include bonanzle, ecrater, etsy, ebay,
rubylane, tias, etc.).
- - Or - you are in a mainly antiques-related profession, as a
teacher, writer, speaker, restorer, or shop owner.
- Businesses seeking membership should do so only if they have a
qualified spokesperson who will actively contribute to the
group, and follow said Guidelines.
Activity Requirements on the AVCOSA Community (Ning)
Site
- You must post active/correct links to your sales
venue(s) on your member profile page (not to the home page of a
group site, for example, not to ebay.com or
ecrater.com).
- You must upload an "avatar pic" within 30 days from joining --
either a photo of yourselfself or your business logo. The default
is the AVCOSA logo.
- If after 30 days, you have not completed the required
content on your profile page -- business name (if you use one),
personal/real name, avatar pic, and links to sales venue(s),
we will consider your account abandoned, and will delete it. You
are welcome to join again when you have the time to spend on
this.
- You should sign in at least once a month and do something that
is considered "activity" - update your profile page, make a comment
or a post, upload pix - it is the only way we can know that you are
an active member. We realize you may be checking in and reading
posts and comments, but that is not logged as "activity".
- Members should maintain their info and make updates in a timely
manner, including manual submission of updates to your Directory
Listing (which is optional, and not taken automatically from your
profile page).
-
Guidelines
- No inappropriate content will be allowed, which refers to your
profile page content as well as your type of merchandise. No
nudity, hate, foul language, flaming, etc.
- Members are to behave as PROFESSIONALS when on the site, or
when referencing their membership, anywhere else, on-line or
off-line.
- Members have no authority to act on behalf of or to speak for
AVCOSA save insofar as expressly authorized by the Executive
Director.
- Members shall not state or imply that membership is guarantee
of authenticity of any article offered for sale.
- Members should seek to advance the professional reputation and
standing of AVCOSA by acting, as dealers, in an honest manner.
- Members should promote the knowledge and understanding of
"Antiques, Vintage & Collectibles" and ONLINE SELLING.
