Is there a group on here for help with identifying items?

I'm slowly learning my way around AVCOSA. I have been selling on line for over 10 years, but I've been in the Antique business for at least 25. I am a Powerseller on ebay and have had a shop there. Now, I am concentrating on my Ruby Lane shop. I joined AVCOSA because of it's positive attitude towards on line selling in our business.

I had two stores on Ebay- closed both, now I am just listing items at auction.
I try and keep at least 20 items listed at all times. I am selling about 35% at auctions.
I did have a web page for over 15 years-- I just closed that also.
I seem to have way more sales listing items at the auctions and on etsy.
Having your own web page is lots of hard work. It like opening a store in the middle of the desert and trying to advertise all over the net so buyers can find me.

Hello everyone, new to this group but not sales. Past power seller too but doing well now on bonanzle. I have my own website as well . Can't wait to get to know everyone.

Hi! Just joined AVOSCA. Selling on Bonanzle with 3 stores. I'd love to have a stand-alone website but not sure how to go about it. Wandered over from TVV. Been selling on-line for 3 years. eBay was easy - had a captive audience. Now I get lots of looks - I would like to have some discussions about converting looks to sales in this new world of online selling 2.0!

I too was a power seller on ebay - not anymore although I still list a few auctions a month. I have a store on etsy, one on Ruby Lane and my own site. RL is expensive but I've made some decent sales so I'm coming out ahead and I've had a few people become customers of my own site as a result . I think that because they found me on RL they are more comfortable visiting my stand alone site. Etsy is good because it's cheap and gets about twice the traffic of my site. I am interested in learning more about promoting all 3 shops but especially my stand alone. I do blog, probably not often enough, I have a myspace account I hardly ever use, no facebook and I really don't get the twitter thing, I feel like I'm tweeting to other shopkeepers only so I've pretty much stopped. The only thing I'm really on top of is the google base. I guess I'm asking - where is the best place to concentrate my energy?

Hi All, I closed my Ebay store about a year ago during that Jan-Feb fiasco, and after that I listed a couple of things at Blujay, but had no sales. I'm dragging my feet about having a stand-alone site because of the marketing issue. If you can come up with a way to group stand-alones and have a presence, I'll gladly join. Thanks to my web-designer son, I could have a site up in just days. I've wanted to make sure I had a focus which is why I haven't done it. I just can't afford to waste the time and money on my own site if I'm not getting traffic. Keep in mind I sell everyday collectibles (china, glass, linens, odds and ends) with a few rarites thrown in, not true "oh my god, isn't that beautiful?" antiques.
